Create a DIY Photo Gallery with Style

How to hang and display your photos is one of the most common decorating dilemmas that people have, and it can make or break a room. I’m a big fan of having personal photos displayed in a cool way, but even if your choice is hanging photo art, the guidelines and ideas for hanging remain the same. Create a DIY photo gallery in any room of your home using these great ideas from bloggers around the web.

Our first idea comes from ‘Songbird Blog’, and is the most charming gallery idea! Her layered photo frames mantel is wonderful in it’s imperfection!

We found this idea pinned on Pinterest by ‘Amy Halvorson’, and she included these directions… DIY canvas gallery wall for cheap : 12×12 photos printed at Costco ($ 3.99 each), then glued (spray adhesive works best to prevent air bubbles) onto 12″ canvas from Michael’s, add black ribbon around edges to finish nicely. Glue wooden letters of choice onto blank canvas, spray paint in desired color. Hang on wall using 3M command Velcro strips. Total cost: about $35.00

‘The Creative Mama’ shows you how to create a Wall O’ Canvas that looks amazing… her photos are amazing as well! Could we all take some “how to take photos of our kids” tips from her display?

‘The City Farmhouse’ created this DIY gallery wall for less than $40… with wood, chalk paint and some mod podge. They have a complete tutorial as well! Love this project a lot… it looks like art!

Go visit Liz at ‘Love Grows Wild’ to find out how she created these DIY photo clipboards. This is such a creative idea, and would be perfect for someone like me who gets bored easily.

‘This Humble Home’ has a great tutorial for these barn beam ledges… These make such a great spot to display photos, or perhaps a collection?

At ‘Liz Marie Blog’ there are complete instructions on how to create this DIY wood and wire art display. Easy and cheap! Art or photos would look amazing on this…

‘Photojojo’ shows you how to make these funky cardboard ring frames from recoiled materials… I could see a whole wall of these making huge impact on a room!

An idea from Victor Schrager for Country Living, creating family photo wreaths! You could just glue photos to a cardboard ring, or use poster putty to secure them for a less permanent solution.

‘Bits of Everything’ shows you how to make this wall picture collage with their complete tutorial… It was simply black foam core board and Mod Podge!

Of course, we’re going to shamelessly include our own project from over at TBD, our DIY canvas photo frames!

Lastly, if you still need a little help in how to just hang good old fashioned photos, gallery style, here are a few ideas to help you find an arrangement that works for you!

Unfortunately we don’t know the true source of this image. If anyone knows, please let us know in comments.
