Poufs!! DIY Projects

Forget the ottoman, what’s hot in style right now are poufs! Easy to put your feet up on, great as spare seating and frankly, they just look cool… DIY poufs are projects that can add double duty decor to your room, with a good dose of on trend design. I bought one for Steve for last Christmas… let’s just say, I wish I had made it! They are not cheap, even at a place like West Elm or Crate and Barrel. The other problem I had is that I couldn’t find it in the exact color I was looking for, so I had to settle. Never a good thing. So these do it yourself poufs are just the solution I wish I had, and now you do! One tip we picked up? Use a firm filler, or your pouf will get dowdy real quick. You aren’t looking for a bean bag here.

Our first one is from ‘Pickles‘. This Puff Daddy pouf is a knitted project, so if you or someone who loves you knits, these sell for a lot of money in the commercial market. Love the texture this adds to a room!

The Country Chic Cottage‘ created this rustic pouf from coffee sacks! She has photos and links to download the instructions and patterns. Great choice for a casual setting!

Laura at ‘A Beautiful Mess‘ has a compete tutorial for you on making this drum floor DIY pouf! This looks amazing, and it is firm enough to use as a stool, as you will see when you click through to see all her photos. Lots of step by steps!

From ‘Retropolitan Hip‘, this DIY floor pouf was made from $3 Ikea floor mats… It looks cool but casual, and it looks like it will last. I really like the look of this fabric for almost any home.

This hexagon DIY floor pouf from ‘Shabby Creek Cottage‘ is really fun. I like this for a room with kids, because it just has a cool shape and feel. Bonus: It was inspired by a children’s book! Gina has given us lots of step by step photos to follow.

Design Sponge‘ has a full template and tutorial for making a pouf. This is an easy project, that obviously doesn’t have to be done in a rainbow! Easy instructions.

Another tutorial on how to sew a pouf by ‘BHG‘… this is a good one for beginners, and the same design used by ‘Country Chic Cottage’ to make her coffee sack pouf, above!

This DIY pouf is an Ikea hack from ‘Kristy Murphy‘. Love her fabric choice! She used an old Ikea footstool as “filler”. Great project, for less than $40! That is way less than I spent on Steve’s pouf!

Do you crochet, or want to learn? ‘Twin Dragonfly Designs‘ has a free crochet floor pouf pattern for you! This is like the knitted DIY poufs to me, and I love the texture!

Susan at ‘Living with Punks‘ created this hack for a Land of Nod floor cushion. For those of you with kids who haven’t already gone there, poufs are perfect for kids! I love the handle on this so they can carry it around to where they want to use it… a must for kids I think…

Lastly, this bean bag cube from ‘The Ochre Elephant‘ is an easy project. They even used bubble wrap to fill this DIY pouf!

Ok, I did say that last one was the last one, right? Well I wanted to include this last inspirational pouf from ‘Style Me Pretty’, by ‘Ruth Eileen Photography‘. No tutorial, but with all the ones we just shared, we know you can use this to inspire you to make one of these great projects. Look how great they can look! Have you made a pouf?
